Who we are
The Flo-Tek group was established in the year 1998 in Botswana. It has evolved to become one of the leading and respected brands in the manufacturing of PVC, CPVC & HDPE plastic pipes and fittings, rotomolded products, and packaging materials in Southern Africa. Our ever-growing network now has operations in Botswana, South Africa, Namibia, and Zambia. Flo-Tek is a preferred manufacturer of choice, offering an array of quality certified products across the building industries.
At Flo-Tek, accessible from https://www.flotekafrica.com/, the privacy of our visitors and customers is a priority. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and protect it, and the rights you have in relation to it.
Applicable law
We process personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA) of South Africa and the Data Protection Act, 2018 of Botswana, as well as comparable data-protection laws in the other countries in which we operate (Namibia and Zambia).
Who is responsible for your information
For the purposes of POPIA, Flo-Tek is the “responsible party”; for the purposes of the Botswana Data Protection Act, 2018, Flo-Tek is the “data controller”.

Legal basis for processing
We rely on the following lawful bases to process your personal information:

- Consent – for marketing communications, newsletter subscriptions, and the use of non-essential cookies. You may withdraw your consent at any time.

How we use your information
We use personal information to respond to enquiries, provide our products and services, administer, secure and improve our website, analyse trends and visitor demographics, send communications you have requested, and comply with our legal obligations.
Cookies and tracking technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the website and, where you consent, for analytics and advertising. When you first visit our website you are presented with a cookie banner that allows you to accept or decline non-essential cookies. Essential cookies, which are necessary for the website to function, do not require consent. You can also disable or delete cookies through your individual browser settings, although some parts of the website may not function correctly as a result.
Third-party advertising and links
Third-party ad servers or ad networks may use technologies like cookies, JavaScript, or Web Beacons in advertisements and links that appear on Flo-Tek and that are sent directly to your browser. They may automatically receive your IP address when this occurs. Flo-Tek has no access to or control over cookies used by third-party advertisers. This Privacy Policy does not apply to other advertisers or websites, and we encourage you to consult the respective privacy policies of these third parties for more detailed information, including how to opt out of certain options.
Sharing and disclosure
We may share personal information with service providers (operators) who process it on our behalf under written agreements, and with regulators, law-enforcement, or other authorities where we are required to do so by law. We do not sell your personal information.
Cross-border transfers
Because Flo-Tek operates in Botswana, South Africa, Namibia, and Zambia, and uses service providers that may be located in other countries, your personal information may be transferred across borders. Where we transfer personal information outside its country of origin, we ensure an adequate level of protection through one of the lawful transfer mechanisms permitted under section 72 of POPIA and the corresponding provisions of the Botswana Data Protection Act, 2018 – for example, the recipient being subject to laws or binding agreements that provide comparable protection, appropriate contractual safeguards, or your consent.
How long we keep your information
We keep personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes set out in this policy. Where the law requires us to retain records – for example tax, accounting, and company-law obligations – we retain the relevant information for the maximum period required by that law, which may be up to seven (7) years after the end of our relationship with you. Website and server log data is generally retained for up to twelve (12) months. Marketing data is retained until you withdraw consent or unsubscribe. When personal information is no longer required, it is securely deleted or anonymised.
Your rights
Under POPIA and the Botswana Data Protection Act, 2018, you have the right to:
- be notified that we collect and process your personal information;
- request access to the personal information we hold about you;
- request the correction, updating, or deletion of personal information that is inaccurate, irrelevant, excessive, or unlawfully obtained;

- object to the use of your personal information for direct marketing;
- withdraw your consent at any time, where processing is based on consent;
- not be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing; and
- lodge a complaint with the relevant regulator.
To exercise any of these rights, please contact our Data Protection Officer at [email protected]. We will respond in accordance with the timeframes required by applicable law.
Data security and breach notification
We apply appropriate, reasonable technical and organisational measures to safeguard personal information against loss, unauthorised access, and unlawful processing. If a security compromise occurs that creates a risk to your personal information, we will notify the relevant regulator and affected individuals as soon as reasonably possible, as required by section 22 of POPIA and the corresponding provisions of the Botswana Data Protection Act, 2018.
